Celebrate the opening of Portal For(e) the Ephemeral Passage—an exhibition curated by Wex Artist Residency Award recipient jaamil olawale kosoko—at this dynamic preview.

Featuring a dub reggae dance party, the evening kicks off a week of opening programs across the center through June 18. See the lineup below and stay tuned to wexarts.org: more information on these and other events will be announced closer to the exhibition’s opening.

Building on Black feminist knowledge, queer theory, and sacred rituals of intimacy and wellness, Portal For(e) the Ephemeral Passage is an interdisciplinary exhibition that features new projects by kosoko, nora chipaumire, Jennifer Harge and Devin Drake, Dana Michel, Jasmine Murrell, and Keioui Keijaun Thomas.

Galleries and Lower Lobby

Enjoy open galleries, small bites from Together & Co., and a signature appetizer by Columbus’s own Chef Nikki at nora chipaumire’s WiFM ZiFM dub night featuring dub reggae–inspired electronic music selected by local DJ ASL Princess. The evening’s music is played on the monumental soundshitsystem, designed by Ari Marcopoulos and Kara Walker and constructed by Matt Jackson Studio.

jaamil olawale kosoko, Nile Harris, and Everett-Asis Saunders present a performance within the context of kosoko’s gallery installation that will be livestreamed to audiences in the Performance Space and on wexarts.org. A postperformance talk with the artists will take place in the space.

Verge.fm cofounder and Wex Path Fellow Reg Zehner curates this community-centered festival showcasing local Black artists, organizations, and businesses. The event continues at No Place Gallery Saturday evening, then at 934 Gallery on June 19.

Portal For(e) the Ephemeral Passage is organized by the Wexner Center for the Arts and curated by jaamil olawale kosoko in collaboration with all of its programming departments.
