Welcome to the Wex, Gaëtane Verna!

Aug 24, 2022

Waist-up photo of Gaëtane Verna. She is a Black woman with braided hair parted at the center and pulled back into a tight bun and black-rimmed glasses. She's wearing small dangling earrings, berry red lipstick, and a long-sleeve, blue and white-striped top. Her arms are folded and she's facing the camera with a warm smile.

We're thrilled to share that a new Executive Director has been chosen to lead the Wex forward. Art historian and arts administrator Gaëtane Verna will join us November 28.

Verna comes to the Wex from Toronto, where she's been Director and Artistic Director of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery since 2012. Her background also includes teaching work and extensive experience on arts nonprofit boards.

"Through bold inquiry and practice, the Wex embraces its multidisciplinary mission of innovation, education and meaningful engagement and enables us to examine the most pressing and urgent issues of our time. I am both honored and excited to join the staff of the Wex and the board in building on its glorious past and shaping its bright future together."
