The second annual edition of Unorthodocs. will fill the long weekend of October 25-29 with screenings and visiting artists, but there are two ways to get a first look at the work of two filmmakers scheduled to appear at the fest: Dominique and Dan Angeloro, a.k.a. Soda_Jerk.

All this month, The Box features a segment from Astro Black, a video series they've been working on since 2007 featuring the image and work of the late, groundbreaking jazz artist, Sun Ra. Below, we have their 2016 collaboration with Australian electronic group The Avalanches, The Was.

The Australian-born sisters make ultra-dense pop culture mashups to explore "the intersection of documentary and speculative fiction" as they told Vice's I.D. last year. Like earlier works, this 13-minute delight features a dizzying melange of cinematic references, from movies by previous Wex guests like Jim Jarmusch, Richard Linklater, and Gus Van Sant to beloved classics such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, to the film appearances of Fritz the Cat, Beavis and Butt-Head and The Fat Boys.
