The Saintseneca Album Release is still a few weeks away but you can tune into what's ahead with the pre-show playlist below, curated for the Wex by Chris DeVille, Senior News Editor for Stereogum. First, a few words from Chris about the band and his selections:

A decade into their existence, you can safely call Saintseneca world-renowned. The Columbus folk-rock band releases music through Anti- Records, making them label mates with Tom Waits, Neko Case, and Wilco among others. They've toured the US and Europe several times over. They've garnered critical acclaim from a range of prestigious publications.

Before all that, they were part of a community of friends making music together in the neighborhoods surrounding Ohio State, an ethos they maintained even as their reputation grew well beyond the scope of their local scene. Factor in a number of lineup changes through the years, and you end up with less a band than a vibrant network of artists orbiting project mastermind Zac Little—a family tree responsible for some of the most remarkable music out of this city in recent years.

In the lead-up to Saintseneca's release party for new album Pillar Of Na, here is an introduction to that constellation of creators. Besides Saintseneca tracks new and old, it includes other groups featuring current and former Saintseneca members, such as The Sidekicks, All Dogs, Tin Armor, WV White, and Andy Cook. It also extends to some of the Columbus bands who've shared the stage with Saintseneca over the years. Enjoy.
