Our seventh annual Cinema Revival: A Festival of Film Restoration begins on February 25! This year’s edition is completely online and free, and we’re looking forward to programs and presentations spotlighting the Black Film Center/Archive at Indiana University, the Video Game History Foundation, the Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project, and the Cineteca di Bologna!

To whet your appetite, we recommend checking out the podcast The Dead Pixel, which focuses on film preservation and restorations through conversations with leaders in the field. The podcast is the brainchild of Lee Kline, Technical Director, and Ryan Hullings, Audio Supervisor, of the Criterion Collection. Both Lee and Ryan have been Wex guests during Cinema Revival. You might remember Lee’s 2015 presentation about the heroic restoration of Satyajit Ray’s Apu Trilogy, or Ryan’s 2017 presentation on sound restoration for the films Don’t Look BackA Hard Day’s Night, and Quadrophenia.  Podcast guests include 2020 Cinema Revival guest Mike Pogorzelski of the Academy Film Archive, and 2019 guest John Polito of Audio Mechanics.

Enjoy, and we hope to see you (virtually) for Cinema Revival 2021!
