Long Day’s Journey into Night

(Di qiu zui hou de ye wan, Bi Gan, 2018)

Exceptional young Chinese filmmaker Bi Gan has created an ambitious film in two parts. The noirish first half sees a solitary man awash in memories of love and regret. The second half then becomes an hour-long single shot—in 3D!—with gravity defying camerawork that carries us through a hypnotic, labyrinthine cityscape. Featuring Chinese superstars Sylvia Chang and Tang Wei. (140 mins.; DCP, partial 3D)

Please note: special event parking ($5) is available in Ohio Union South Garage for the Friday, April 19, screening. Please allow extra time for travel and parking.

"A game-changer of the highest order…Bi Gan brings back the possibilities, no the magic, of cinema!"
