Distinguished scholar Hayden B. J. Maginnis, director of the School of the Arts and professor of history of art at McMaster University in Ontario, shares his insights on cartography and the new art of the late 1200s and early 1300s. A specialist in Italian painting of the early Renaissance, Maginnis is often described as a revisionist historian, and his investigations of historiography have resulted in a reevaluation of the contributions of Sienese painters to the rebirth of the arts in Italy in the 14th century.

Established in 1986, the Ludden lecture series honors the late Franklin M. Ludden, a highly respected professor in the Department of History of Art.

Presented by Ohio State's Department of History of Art. Cosponsored by the Wexner Center.
