Artist David Chung presents recent film, drawing, and public art projects, as well as previous works, at this lecture presented by Ohio State's Department of Art. Born in Germany the son of Korean diplomats, David Chung is known for his multimedia installations, paintings, drawings, prints, and public artworks. Many of his works--such as the ambitious 1988 installation Seoul House, which combines a 70-foot-long charcoal drawing with an electronic rap opera--involve immersive, expressive explorations of urban life and the immigrant experience. His work has been shown in such venues as the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Asia Society, the Walker Arts Center, and the Wadsworth Atheneum. The recipient of numerous awards, Chung is currently on the faculty of the School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
