Celebrity Soup, Faces and Places, and more

During the run of Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms, the Wexner Center is offering First Sundays, featuring free gallery admission and themed activities the first Sunday of every month (gallery admission is normally $8). Gallery hours on Sundays are 11 am–6 pm, with activities generally running 1–5 pm. Drag Day in October was a raucous, runaway success. The schedule for the remainder of the exhibition:

First Sundays

Celebrity Soup

November 2 | 1–5 pm — Free

Our November First Sunday will focus on Warhol’s fascination with celebrity culture. Join us for a celebrity portrait activity, “screen test” stations, dress-up stations, a photo station, celebrity-focused tours of the exhibition at 2 and 3 pm, and a screen printing workshop. A screening of Ric Burns’ acclaimed Andy Warhol: A Documentary Film will be screened in the Film/Video Theater 1–5 pm (it’s also free, and visitors can come and go as they wish). A Warhol Superstar-themed fashion show at 4 pm in Mershon Auditorium will consist of winning original designs, featuring NBC4’s Monica Day as emcee, and a special appearance by Project Runway’s Terri Stevens.

First Sundays

Faces and Places

December 7 | 1–5 pm — Free

This family-friendly day will focus on Warhol’s exploration of identity through portraits of people and places in various media. Visitors should be prepared to be interviewed or, at the very least, photographed. Interactive tours, hands-on activities, and a video workshop will also be offered. This event coincides with the final day of the Zoom Family Film Festival.

First Sundays

Pop Rocks

January 4 | 1-5 pm — Free

Andy Warhol and other Pop artists used everyday things like Campbell’s soup cans as the subject of their art. Visitors can bring a canned food item (which will later be donated to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank) to contribute to our collaborative Pop mural. We’ll also highlight Warhol’s interest in pop music. Visitors can design their own album cover, take an exhibition tour, or try silk-screening.

First Sundays

Over and Over and Out

Sunday, Feb 1 | 1-5 pm — Free

Don’t miss our last First Sunday as we prepare to bid Warhol farewell. Today the focus is on Andy’s technique of doubling and repetition, seen in works like Twenty-five Marilyns and Double Elvis, and in such videos as Outer and Inner Space. Visitors can examine and experiment with how repetition changes perception through hands-on activities and engaging tours of the exhibition.
