Cinema Revival: A Festival of Film Restoration begins February 25

Fri, Jan 30, 2015

The Wexner Center for the Arts is thrilled to introduce Cinema Revival: A Festival of Film Restoration, a new series celebrating recently revitalized and restored classic, experimental, animated, and documentary films. The five-day series runs February 25–March 1, 2015.

Featuring films from such directors as Alfred Hitchcock, Alain Resnais, Luchino Visconti, and Howard Hawks; animated shorts from Disney; a presentation by acclaimed animator Suzan Pitt; and notable experts, including Sony Pictures’s Grover Crisp and the Criterion Collection’s Lee Kline, who will speak to the ever-increasing reliance on digital tools in their practice, the series is a comprehensive look at the current state of film restoration and preservation.

David Filipi, director of film/video and organizer of the series, says, “For the last 25 years, the Wexner Center’s film/video program has presented newly restored films from all corners of the world and across traditions, eras, and genres. Cinema Revival is the ideal showcase for the work being done by those who preserve our cinematic treasures and demonstrate the center’s long-lasting and unwavering commitment to presenting and sharing films and film history with our audiences in the best possible formats.”

Visitor information: Tickets for individual screenings are $8 for the general public and $6 for Wexner Center members, students, and senior citizens. Festival passes, which grant access to all screenings and presentations, are available for $35 for the general public and $30 for Wexner Center members, students, and senior citizens. Passes and tickets are available in advance at tickets.wexarts.org, 614-292-3535, or at the ticket office. Unless otherwise noted, all films and associated activities will be held at the Wexner Center’s Film/Video Theater, 1871 N. High St.
