Showcase Includes Youth Division Featuring Film Works by Teens

Ohio Artists Also Featured in the Box Video Screening Space

Now in its 11th year, the Ohio Short Film & Video Showcase will bring together an impressive array of 13 independently produced works from filmmakers in Columbus, Athens, Cuyahoga Falls, Dayton, and other locales this year. Each film selected is under 20 minutes long and produced in Ohio within the past 18 months, and was selected by a panel including Wexner Center Media Arts Curator David Filipi and Associate Curator of Media Arts Jennifer Lange, as well as Tim Lanza of Columbus’s Rohauer Collection and organizer of the Avant Garage music and film festivals. The range of genre, tone, and production value of the 13 selected films reflect the diversity of Ohio’s active film culture. In addition, the event again includes a Youth Division highlighting work by Ohio teen filmmakers. The Youth Division was organized by Wexner Center staff members Kendra Meyer, Mike Olenick, and Jaclyn Thompson as well as Columbus video artist Liv Gjestvang, Wexner Center intern John Achor, and a past prizewinner, Jimmie Hendrickson. Prizes will be awarded to the top youth-produced videos, including a grand prize of editing time and assistance in the Wexner Center’s Art & Technology studio.

Notes Filipi, “We are pleased to again support the work of independent Ohio filmmakers. This unique and popular event provides them the rare opportunity to show their work in a theatrical setting, for an audience.”
