“Upholding the legacy of his namesake, saxophonist Joshua Redman—son of the great Dewey Redman—has continued to develop as a leader in jazz….Redman's definitely got the fire and burns hot as coals…[with] unbridled abilities as musician and performer.”—All About Jazz

Standout sax talent Joshua Redman thrilled local jazz fans when he last hit the Wex with The Bad Plus. Now he’s back with his stellar Still Dreaming band that pays homage to his father, legendary tenor saxophonist Dewey Redman, and the visionary music of Ornette Coleman.

In the 1970s and 80s, an unforgettable lineup of Ornette Coleman band alumni—Dewey Redman, Don Cherry, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell—came together as Old and New Dreams to perform a mixture of Coleman classics and their own brilliant compositions. Still Dreaming celebrates this tradition of innovation fostered by Coleman and upheld by Dewey in Old and New Dreams—a legacy that Joshua Redman takes up with pride, his own fiery invention, and the help of star drummer Brian Blade, bass virtuoso Scott Colley, and highly lauded trumpeter Ron Miles. Hard-swinging, melodic, and soulful, the music of Still Dreaming will transport you with its joyous, celebratory spirit and incandescent, vanguard jazz pulse.
