The very English quartet Mumford & Sons are revitalizing Britain’s folk-rock scene, along with Laura Marling and other leading artists. Although only in their early twenties, both in image and sound, they draw on a vibe that harks back to the era of the village green or even more distant times in their bejeweled isle. The title track of Sigh No More, their debut album, is a statement of intent that references the romantic language of Shakespeare as they sing "Love it will not betray you, dismay or enslave you / It will set you free / Be more like the man you were made to be." The album unfolds through melancholy moments of dark soul searching and contrasting sprightly songs lifted on rollicking banjo licks. Mumford & Sons are building a keen following stateside, and their Columbus debut here brings you the spirited live show that has already won them so many fans in England.
This show is now sold out.
