"Jansch's influence on modern music is incalculable."—Time Out
British psych-folk legend Bert Jansch's evocatively distinctive guitar and voice has been featured on his impressive array of solo efforts since the Sixties as well as with the groundbreaking band Pentangle. His immense influence has marked the work of notable artists such as Jimmy Page, Neil Young, and Nick Drake and continues to spread to today's new generation of followers such as Devandra Banhart, Beth Orton, and Helena Espvall (Espers) who were among the guests who contributed to Bert Jansch's outstanding 2006 release The Black Swan for the U.S. indie label Drag City. This concert, in conjunction with a new batch of Bert Jansch reissues from the Seventies, is a very rare opportunity to hear this acclaimed master in an intimate setting in this country. As The Guardian said, "Few guitarists, no matter how legendary, can keep an audience mesmerised for over two hours. Folk-blues icon Jansch is one of those few." Scottish neo-folk singer and guitarist Alasdair Roberts, whose most recent release Spoils for the Drag City label, will make an ideal opener for this special evening.
