She is actress Zooey Deschanel, Him is indie-folk singer M. Ward of Portland. Together they’ve forged a potent musical partnership for touching songs of lost love and longing that showcase her appealing, strong pipes and his sympathetic, subtle arrangements underpinned by his deft guitar lines. On their debut disc, Volume One for Merge Records, and the handful of acclaimed live dates they’ve performed so far, the pair are winning over fans with the sweet, country-tinged romance of their classic sound. Advance tickets are definitely recommended for their local debut, which is sure to be one of the most anticipated dates on our summer calendar.
