Hear bandoneon master Dino Saluzzi on one of his rare live concert tours of the U.S. Saluzzi, an early friend of nuevo tango pioneer Astor Piazzolla, incorporates strains of rural Argentine folk music, jazz, and contemporary chamber music into his soulful original work. His outstanding releases for ECM Records have won him devoted admirers worldwide, and this concert marks one of his few visits to the U.S. to play live. Saluzzi is known for exploring new dimensions in music through collaborations with many musicians—among them Charlie Haden, Tomasz Stanko, and Gato Barbieri. This time he concentrate on duets with cellist Anja Lechner. Their collaboration began when Saluzzi worked with Lechner and Munich-based Rosamunde Quartett (also ECM recording artists) on Kultrum, his exquisitely rendered classical crossover release. Ojos Negros, a new ECM release of Saluzzi's duets with Lechner, is being issued in conjunction with this tour.
