New Works, New Space, New Steps includes a premiere from Jacek Luminski, choreographer and founder of Poland's Silesian Dance Theatre, which made a strong impression here with its sold-out American debut at the Wexner Center in 1994. The Columbus Dispatch called Luminski "a gifted choreographer" who "organizes his dances in intricate, but clearly structured ways--with the ingenuity that a classical symphonist applies to musical motives and phrases." Also featured is a work by Columbus-based choreographer Maria Glimcher, whose Heart Strings touched audiences as part of the production Firebird and The Rite of Spring: A Russian Revolution at Mershon Auditorium in spring 2005.
