Work outdoors at Ohio State's beautiful Chadwick Arboretum in this workshop taught by sculptor Nicole Gibbs. Learn how a piece of garbage can be transformed into a piece of art or how light, shadow, rain, dust, soil, or pollen can be made into an incredible fleeting visual you can capture in a digital photograph. We'll recycle and repurpose found materials and elements to make temporary 2D and 3D sketches outside and then document them before they dissolve back to where they came from, like ghosts.
Please note: Chadwick Arboretum is on Lane Avenue just west of Olentangy River Road. Directions (but not transportation) will be provided.

From the instructor
With degrees in painting, art history, ceramics, and sculpture under my belt, I have developed a multidisciplinary practice using a wide variety of techniques and media. I enjoy combining materials in unusual ways, and the outcomes of my explorations have taken the form of drawings, mixed media installations, time-based work, and collaboration with dance professionals. I want to provide my students with lessons in being unafraid of artistic experimentation while crafting things well. I love the outdoors, and am an avid hiker and amateur birder.
