Visiting Filmmakers

Rising stars and acclaimed masters come to screen their films and talk with Wexner Center audiences.

Marie Losier

Thu, Nov 12, 2009  |  7:00PM
Film/Video Theater

"Marie Losier is the most effervescent and psychologically accurate portrait artist working in film today. Her films wriggle with the energy and sweetness of a broken barrel full o’ sugar worms!!!!" - Guy Maddin

Marie Losier has an affinity for film history and influences ranging from Guy Maddin’s baroque riffs on cinema’s past to George and Mike Kuchar’s low-fi aesthetics, along with a long list of other perpetrators of general artistic mayhem. Born in France and based in New York, the filmmaker has screened her work at festivals and venues all over the world, including the 2006 Whitney Biennial. Tonight, she presents such recent films as Tony Conrad DreaMinimalist (2008) and Snow Beard (2008) with Mike Kuchar.

Films to be screened include:

Slap the Gondola (2009, video, 13 mins.)
Snow Beard (2008, video, 3 mins.)
Tony Conrad, Dreaminimalist (2008, 16mm, 25 mins.)
The Ontological Cowboy (2005, 16mm, 16 mins.)
Flying Saucey! (2006, 16mm, 10 mins.)
The Touch Retouched (2002, mini DV, 5 mins.)
