Wexner Prize: Spike Lee

Among the most significant voices in American cinema, film director Spike Lee epitomizes the ideals of the Wexner Prize, which honors a contemporary artist in any field whose work has been consistently original, influential, and challenging to convention. This award recognizes Lee’s groundbreaking feature films, documentaries, television movies, music videos, and commercials.

The Box

Lee's eloquently enraged look at New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is epic in scope and intimate in detail. Originally produced as a miniseries for HBO, the project went on to win three prime-time Emmy Awards. As Lee himself says, When the Levees Broke portrays "the struggle for New Orleans by focusing on the profound loss, as well as the indomitable spirit of New Orleaneans."

Screenings run continuously seven days a week, the same hours as our ticket office (Mon-Wed: 9 AM-6 PM; Thu-Fri: 9 AM-8 PM; Sat: 10 AM-8 PM; Sun: 11 AM-6 PM). The Box is located just across from the Wexner Center Store.
