When Warhol ended their affair in 1966, Williams returned to his family home in Massachusetts, and from there he simply disappeared. Filmmaker Esther Robinson is Danny Wilson's niece, and although she never met him, she became fascinated by his story. A Walk into the Sea is her extraordinary investigation into his life, his death, and the unsurpassed contribution he made to Warhol's legacy as an avant-garde filmmaker. As much a moving commentary on a family's history and secrets as it is a stunning restoration of Danny Williams's vision as a filmmaker, A Walk into the Sea also incorporates surprising interviews with surviving Factory habitués, offering a glimpse of the human fragility on which the Warhol empire was built.
