The Wonderful, Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl
We’re seizing the opportunity presented by two recent—and widely reviewed—biographies of German filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl to screen this incredible look at the director of Triumph of the Will (1935) and Olympia (1938).
Riefenstahl was perhaps the most accomplished, and definitely the most reviled, woman filmmaker in cinema history, and the film marks the first time she ever addressed her past, tainted by accusations of collusion with the Nazis, on camera. (181 mins., 35mm)
