In 2011, activists and regular citizens in Egypt utilized social media to organize a revolution that led to the resignation of dictator Hosni Mubarak, who had been in power for 30 years. Blending real-time footage and interviews with key organizers and observers, Uprising is a methodical exploration of how political change can be documented and galvanized with our current forms of communication and everyday, portable devices. Completed in 2012, the film ends with an acknowledgment of the country’s political instability that continues to this day. (85 mins, DCP)
