Trouble Every Day stars Vincent Gallo as a newly married geneticist who discovers vampires in Paris. Just added to the schedule, Claire Denis, The Wanderer is an intimate documentary about Denis and the major themes of her work. U.S. Go Home, Denis' coming-of-age story set in the mid-1960's, completes the evening.

Claire Denis, The Wanderer begins at 8:50 pm; U.S. Go Home screens at approximately 9:45 pm. One of Denis' most controversial films, Trouble Every Day stars indie icon Vincent Gallo as a moody scientist honeymooning in Paris. He and his bride (Tricia Vessey) soon move beyond lovemaking and fall into the nightmarish, vampiric world of a reclusive former colleague. (2001; 101 mins.)

Claire Denis, The Wanderer follows Denis and her work prior to 1995. The video presents an intimate interview with the director as she discusses racism and colonialism, desire and the filming of sex scenes, and the choreography of actors. (Sebastien Lifshitz, 1995; 48 mins.)

U.S. Go Home is Denis' contribution to the European television series All the Boys and Girls in Their Time, which commissioned noted directors to make films based on their own adolescence. (Chantal Akerman and Olivier Assayas also contributed to the series.) Denis' coming-of-age story follows three teenage girls discovering themselves in France in the mid-1960s. This presentation screens in French without subtitles. We plan to have real-time translation for viewers not fluent in the language. (1994; 64 mins.)
