“A lyrical triumph!”—Guardian

Chris Guthrie cherishes the beautiful landscapes on her family’s farm in northern Scotland, but the harsh lifestyle, an abusive father, and the slow-building rumors of a war in Europe inspire a yearning for what lies over the horizon. Terence Davies (Distant Voices, Still Lives, The House of Mirth) accomplishes a longtime passion project in bringing to the screen this sumptuous adaptation of Lewis Grassic Gibbon’s 1932 novel, the first installment of the beloved A Scots Quair trilogy. (135 mins., DCP)

See Radiohead’s latest video, Daydreaming (Paul Thomas Anderson, 2016), in 35mm before this screening. The Wex is one of a limited number of venues in the country to receive a print of this much-talked-about new video.
