Shadow Kill, from India, tells the story of a state-appointed executioner a few years before independence. Wretched Lives, from the Philippines, focuses on a young woman in Manila forced to care for her troubled sister after their mother's death. Set in 1941 before India's independence from Britain, Shadow Kill follows the story of a state-appointed executioner no longer able to bear carrying out politically motivated death sentences.
