A Scanner Darkly
Area Premiere Richard Linklater, 2006
Tue, June 27, 2006 7 PM
The latest from director Richard Linklater, A Scanner Darkly features a star cast in an adaptation of Philip K. Dick's paranoid sci-fi tale rendered with the stunning animation technique pioneered in Linklater's Waking Life.

Based on the novel by science-fiction luminary Philip K. Dick, A Scanner Darkly casts Keanu Reeves as a man with a split identity. He plays both a "Substance D" user and the drug agent assigned to monitor him. The film's animation perfectly renders Dick's memorable "scramble suits," a notable sci-fi creation from the novel. Also starring Robert Downey, Jr., Woody Harrelson, Winona Ryder, and Rory Cochrane. (100 mins., 35mm)
