The Quay Brothers Introduce Freaks

(Tod Browning, 1932)

wex grid image fill

We asked the Quay Brothers to pick one of their favorite horror films to help celebrate Halloween. Their selection? One of the most notorious films in history: Tod Browning’s Freaks. Dramatically cut upon release due to its shocking content and banned in the UK for decades, Freaks is set amidst a tightly knit band of circus sideshow performers and follows a beautiful trapeze artist who seduces and marries a beloved dwarf in the troupe for his money. (64 mins., 35mm)
