Wiseman's epic documentary Public Housing is an extraordinarily vivid look at life lived on the edge of poverty. The Ida B. Wells development on Chicago's South Side is the site of Wiseman's Public Housing. As the New York Times noted, the film "uses its luxuriant length to arrive at a better idea of hope, but it is a concept that makes sense only after the problems of families living in public housing have been thoughtfully explored, and the film does that, too." (16mm, 195 mins.)
