“Ceylan is a sly and daring screen artist of the highest order…. Anatolia gnaws at boundaries of film storytelling with humor, grace, empathy, and a dry, wry view of everyday life.”—Time Out London

Winner of the Grand Prix at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia is the latest film from the celebrated Turkish director of Distant and Climates. A group of men search for a body along the sloped, winding roads of an Anatolian steppe in this wry, meditative police procedural. But the film is far from routine as it captures the small details of the officers’ labors through gorgeous cinematography and a haunting accumulation of details and clues. While the audience and the police piece together the investigation, Ceylan expresses a wide range of universal insights though his subtle storytelling patterns. (150 mins., 35mm, Turkish with English subtitles)

Please join us at 6 PM before the Saturday night screening for a reception hosted by the Turkish American Association of Central Ohio (TAACO).
