In No Fear No Die, an immigrant to Paris struggles to survive in the world of cockfighting. I Can't Sleep features a diverse bunch of working class Parisian immigrants who must cope with a murder in their midst.

Touching differently on postcolonial themes, No Fear, No Die again stars Isaach de Bankole as an immigrant struggling to survive in the desperate underworld of cock-fighting in the Paris suburbs. In I Can't Sleep, Denis provides a haunting, provocative portrait of working-class life among Parisian immigrants: a Lithuanian woman hoping for an acting job, a West Indian musician wanting to return to Martinique, and a West Indian transvestite chanteuse, united by a murder in their midst.
