Jonathan Nossiter, 2004

Debuting at Cannes last year, Mondovino is an exploration into the contemporary world of wine, filmed on three continents, in five languages, over a three-year period.

A wine tasting follows the film on Saturday. Click here for details.

Director Jonathan Nossiter focuses on dozens of wine-world personalities, ranging from CEOs to importers to critics to field laborers, capturing this vast global enterprise chronically torn between its ancient artisanal roots and the demands of transnational industry and commerce. A former sommelier with 15-years experience devising wine lists for New York restaurants, Nossiter has characterized Mondovino as a "militant" film, especially in its fiercely argued defense of the superiority of small wine producers over the more standardized labels transforming the French industry no less than the American. (135 mins.)

On Saturday, you can top off your evening with a festive wine tasting led by Paul Trayser (of Glazer's Distributors of Ohio), complemented by delicious hors d'oeuvres by Cornucopia Catering and stimulating conversation in the casual atmosphere of the Wexner Center Café. This event follows Saturday's screening of Mondovino only.

Special thanks to Paul Trayser and Cornucopia Catering.
