Inferno

(Roy Ward Baker, 1953)

New restoration

a woman and two men sitted around a table with cigarattes and tea cups

One of the last (and arguably one of the best) 3D movies made during the format’s boom in the 1950s, Inferno sees a business tycoon (the excellent Robert Ryan) get tested when he’s left to die in the Mojave Desert after a riding accident. Full of suspense, the film also emphasizes the dramatic possibilities of 3D in a way that few other films had at the time. (83 mins., 3D DCP)
