A new documentary by Abbas Kiarostami's son, Bahman, and a debut film from actress Niki Karirmi, produced by the master himself.

The directors will introduce their respective films pending the approval of their visas.

Produced by Abbas Kiarostami, To Have or Not to Have marks the directing debut of Niki Karimi, the best-known Iranian actress. Her documentary looks at the problems childless couples face in a society where infertility could seriously threaten a marriage. (2001, 52 mins.)

Kiarostami's son Bahman also works in documentary form. His Tabaki is a look at the world of professional mourners, a peculiar profession that reflects native assumptions about contemporary Iranian society. (2001, 28 mins.)

There will be a reception for the filmmakers in the Wexner Center Café from 5 to 6:30 pm. Don't miss this opportunity to meet these up-and-coming directors from the Iranian film scene.

Presented with support from the Ohio Arts Council.
