Meet the Beatles! The first big screen feature starring John, Paul, George, and Ringo is one of the most delightfully entertaining movies of all time. The bandmates, playing slapstick versions of themselves, became the irreverent idols of their generation with this film and changed popular music forever. With landmark filmmaking by the great Richard Lester, the movie is chock full of iconic pop songs, including “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “I Should Have Known Better," “If I Fell,” and the title track. This screening, one of a number of taking place across the country this weekend, is a special presentation of a new high-res digital restoration taken from the film’s original negative and is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the film’s London premiere. (87 mins., 4K DCP)
