“A confident and impressive first feature! Offers a sweetly seductive form of intoxication.”—Hollywood Reporter

Set in a rural Brazilian village that time forgot, Found Memories is a charming and moving contemporary folktale in a magical realist vein. Madalena’s life consists of long-established routines: baking bread in the morning, writing letters to her long-dead husband at night. When a young photographer arrives at her remote village, she forms a bond with Madalena and the town’s other elderly survivors. The photographer then becomes a bridge between the past and the present, sight and memory, and lost and found. (98 mins., 35mm)

Laura Podalsky, an associate professor in Ohio State’s Department of Spanish and Portuguese, introduces the screening.
