Columbus native and Ohio State grad Jennifer Reeder returns to the Wex to present these recent films that continue her exploration of teen girls’ experience. Her Forevering Trilogy is comprised of the three shorts Seven Songs about Thunder (2010), Tears Cannot Restore Her: Therefore I Weep (2010), and And I Will Rise, If Only to Hold You Down (2011). (54 mins., HD video) Set to the beat of a 1980s heavy metal anthem, A Million Miles Away portrays a shared coming-of-age moment between a choir conductor and her group of teen girls. (28 mins., HD video) The film recently made its world premiere at the 2014 International Film Festival Rotterdam. With the exception of Seven Songs about Thunder, all of the films received support from the center’s Film/Video Studio Program. Reeder was also the recipient of a Wexner Center Artist Residency Award, in 2007–8.
