Repeats every day until Wed Sep 30 2009.

Philip Widmann found the raw footage for this film in Saigon some 40 years after it was shot to document an anonymous vacationer's European holiday in 1964–1965.

Widmann edited the footage and added sound to images that show a Vietnamese man posing in front of landmarks in London and Paris, for example, and strolling through the Parthenon in Athens. The result is an extraordinary narrative and time capsule that's particularly poignant given what we know of the years of civil war and foreign intervention Vietnam then faced. (9 mins., 8mm film, transferred to video)

Philip Widmann lives in Hamburg, Germany, where he works in film and theater. Destination Finale has been shown in festivals around Europe and Asia, including the 2009 International Film Festival Rotterdam and the 2009 Festival IndieLisboa.
