Deborah Stratman: Hacked Circuit

(2014)

wex image fill

A single-shot, choreographed portrait of the Foley process of creating sound effects for movies, Hacked Circuit shows Foley artists working on the closing scene of Francis Ford Coppola’s 1974 film The Conversation, starring Gene Hackman. Stratman, a regular visitor to the Wex’s Film/Video Studio Program, exposes this invisible aspect of filmmaking while also reflecting on government surveillance when Hacked Circuit quotes another Hackman surveillance film, Enemy of the State. (15 mins., HD video)

Stratman joins us in person on Friday, October 30, as part of our four-day festival, Picture Lock: 25 Years of Film/Video Residencies.
