(Joel Allen Schroeder, 2013)

Dear Mr. Watterson traces the impact and legacy of Bill Watterson’s comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, one of the most popular in the history of the medium. Watterson retired the strip in 1995 after a 10-year run and at the height of its popularity to move out of the public eye (to somewhere near Cleveland). Aside from releasing the collected strips as books, he has refused to merchandise his iconic characters to this day. With Stephan Pastis, Berkeley Breathed, Jan Eliot, and Jenny Robb of Ohio State’s Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. The film screens in conjunction with the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum’s exhibition Exploring Calvin and Hobbes, on view March 22–August 3. Visit cartoons.osu.edu for more information.
