David Lynch: The Art Life

(Jon Nguyen, 2016)

wex grid image fill

With Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive, David Lynch has unquestionably become one of the most distinctive filmmakers—or artist in any medium—of our time. But the man himself has remained something of an enigma. David Lynch: The Art Life shines a light into Lynch’s painting, music, and early films, giving audiences a better understanding of the man and the artist. Director Jon Nguyen invites us in for a private view of Lynch’s compound and studio in the hills high above Hollywood as Lynch tells stories from his past that unfold like scenes from his films. Strange characters come into focus, only to fade again into the past, leaving an indelible mark on Lynch, the artist. A perfect lead-up to the anticipated premiere of Twin Peaks’ third season later in the weekend! (89 mins., DCP)
