Shortlisted for the Best Animated Film Academy Award, the wildly inventive feature film Idiots and Angels sees a barfly discover a pair of wings sprouting from his back. After being ridiculed by his friends, he repeatedly tries to hack the wings off but they take control of him and force his acts of cruelty into gestures of kindness. Featuring music by Tom Waits. Plympton's brand new, multi-award-winning short, The Cow Who Wanted to Be a Hamburger, opens the evening. The film is an unusual children's fable about the power of advertising, the meaning of life, and the test of a mother's love. (6 mins., 35mm)
