This perennially popular event pairs regional musicians with vintage silent films for an eclectic evening of live music and offbeat movies.

Program approx. 2 hours.

Columbus's Go Robot, Go! bring their retro/futuristic pop music stylings to accompany the bizarre comedy Fresh Lobster (1948, 7 mins.). Ad hoc Columbus combo Piranha Non Gratta combines percussion, guitar, and electronic samples in its score for Sidney Peterson's experimental short Potted Psalm (1948, 18 mins.). Scrawl's Sue Harshe performs scores for two examples of the pre-World War II "Absolute" film: Hans Richter's Rhythmus 21 (1921, 3 mins.) and Viking Eggeling's Symphonie Diagonale (1924, 5 mins.). Additional performances by the Wolverton Brothers of Cincinnati and other guests to be announced.

Avant Garage is presented "cabaret style," with beverages available from a cash bar, as a black box show on the Wexner Center's Mershon Auditorium stage.
