(Powidoki, Andrzej Wajda, 2016)

Two women and one man in a field

The final film from the great Polish director Andrzej Wajda is yet another illustrious, passionate, and committed work of art. Polish superstar Bogusław Linda plays Władysław Strzemiński (1893–1952), a pioneering, Constructivist-era painter who battled both Stalinism and his own WWI-era wounds to realize his avant-garde ideas about art. Wajda was the subject of a Wex retrospective in 2009. (98 mins., DCP)
