You’ll meet Stasha and her boyfriend Farell, teenagers who become caught in the violence of their urban neighborhood, and the Rythm Mastr, an elderly man who brings African sculpture to life through his use of traditional drumming. Teens from throughout the Columbus area are the puppeteers, and acclaimed jazz drummer Kahil El’Zabar provides live accompaniment.
Tickets are extremely limited and are available only in person, first-come, first-served at the Wexner Center Ticket Office/Patron Services Desk on the day of the performance (two tickets per patron maximum). Overflow seating with a live video feed will be available in the Film/Video Theater during all performances. (The ticket office opens at 10 am on Saturday and 11 am on Sunday.)
After the performances, the puppets and sets will be on view as part of the exhbition Kerry James Marshall: Every Beat of My Heart on view through April 13. A video of the complete performance will be on view in the lower lobby during this time as well.Please note: On Saturday, February 2 and Sunday, February 3, visitors will be able to experience the Every Beat of My Heart exhibition only during the scheduled performances. (Before and between shows, the gallery will be closed for set up, break down, and preparation for the next performance.) If you arrive at the gallery before or between performances, we invite you to view the video and photographic display in the lower lobby.
