Marcos Ramirez, also known as ERRE, was born in 1961 in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. He lives and works in San Diego and Tijuana. Primarily self-taught as an artist, ERRE studied law at the Universidad Autónomo de Baja California. His work reflects this education, often addressing the political and social issues that continually confront this border region. ERRE first attracted critical attention with his installations for inSITE94 and inSITE97, binational exhibitions held simultaneously in San Diego and Tijuana. He has subsequently exhibited at the 2000 Whitney Biennial and the 2000 Havana Biennial.
