This sculpture is a new version of a piece Ramirez previously exhibited outdoors at the Havana Biennial. Remade to indicate different possible destinations with the distances to those far-flung points calculated from Columbus, Ohio, the iconic signpost offers quotations from people connected to the places. For example, writer Rainer Maria Rilke's comment "We live our lives, forever taking leave" is matched to his native Prague. Crossroads positions viewers within a web of historical figures and their homes around the globe.
