Born in 1964 in Taiwan, Lee Mingwei currently lives and works in New York City. Recent solo exhibitions include The Living Room at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, The Sleeping Project at Lombard-Freid Fine Arts in New York, and The Tourist Project at Rice University Art Gallery in Houston. In these exhibitions, as well as in such earlier exhibitions as The Letter-writing Project and The Dining Project (both shown at the Whitney Museum in New York), Lee interacted with gallery visitors or invited them to interact with each other, then displayed mementos gleaned from these personal exchanges as part of each piece.
