| About
the Work Franz Ackermann has created his frequently site-specific murals for museums and galleries around the world. Often inspired by his travels and his enthusiasms for maps and the particularities and similarities of varied environs, he infuses his imagery with the experiences of an itinerant artist in the twenty-first century, not quite a tourist but quite often away from home. His large murals often seem purely abstract at first glance but reveal remnants of specific places on closer examination. Architectural structures can be found within bold swirling lines radiating outwards or erratic geometric shapes in the vibrant colors that characterize his painting. Ackermann recently visited Morocco, and perhaps sights and sites from that country will be discernable in his Columbus project. |
